A native of Bedford, Nova Scotia, Paul made his directing debut with the 2006 short Parallels. The film premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival and garnered awards at festivals across North America. Paul's directing credits also include the shorts One Last Thing and Grover's Mill, a multiple award-winner featured on CBC television.

In 2006, Paul founded Sanchin Films. The company, based in Dartmouth, produces film and television projects, advertisements, corporate and promotional videos, music videos, and web video content.

Paul is a graduate of Vancouver Film School, where he received the 2007 Lenhoff & Lenhoff Award for Best Director. He also received a degree in commerce from Dalhousie University and studied journalism at the University of King's College. Before starting his career as a filmmaker, Paul worked as a writer and graphic designer.
